Georgian minister: Israel has sold us out

Israel has joined in the West’s betrayal of Georgia, the Georgian reintegration minister, Temur Yakobashvili, told Haaretz yesterday. As the official in charge of bringing Abkhazia and South Ossetia back into the fold, Yakobashvili oversaw negotiations with the Russians to end the fighting there. He warned the world that the situation would escalate into war, but the West ignored him. “They said the Georgians are exaggerating again,” he charged.

A former Zionist leader who speaks fluent Hebrew, Yakobashvili credited Israeli defense companies with “enabling us to train our army and giving us the possibility to withstand the Russians,” but termed the Israeli government’s decision to stop arms exports to his country “a disgrace.”

Russia to U.S.: Choose us or Georgia

Russia pressed the United States on Wednesday to choose between “a real partnership” with Moscow or an “illusory” relationship with U.S. ally Georgia.

Washington said it’s sticking with Georgia.

“As to choosing, the United States has made very clear that it is standing by the democratically elected government of Georgia,” Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Wednesday.

She spelled out the Bush administration’s stance after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called Georgia’s government “a special project for the United States.”

“And we are aware that the U.S. is uptight about this project,” Lavrov said in remarks broadcast on Russian television. “But a choice will have to be made someday between considerations of prestige related to an illusory project and a real partnership in matters which indeed require collective efforts.”

Jewish Partisans Behind Russo-Georgia War

Dr. David Duke Exposes the Zionist Role Behind the Russia-Georgia War!

In the introduction to his Monday night radio program David Duke speaks on how Israelis have prompted this war and how Israeli Partisans high up in the Georgia Government did the bidding of Israel by launching the attacks on South Ossetia. He also shows how the Jewish extremist influence in media is so great that many people have the mistaken impression that Russia started this war even though Georgia attacked South Ossetia where Russians, by international agreement, have had peacekeepers there for years in the overwhelming Russian region.

Georgia calls emergency meeting

Mikhai Saaksashvilli, the president of Georgia, has held an emergency security meeting after Russia announced that it will establish legal links with the state’s breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

David Bakradze, Georgia’s foreign minister, described the move as the legalisation of Russia’s “de facto annexation” of the areas.

The meeting came after Russia’s foreign ministry said: “The Russian government is instructed [by Vladimir Putin, the country’s president], to co-operate with the de facto authorities in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, including the organisation of trade and economic, social and scientific co-operation.”

Georgia said Russia’s establishment of closer links with the regions was against international law.

Bakradze said it “can be assessed by the Georgian side only as a legalisation of the de facto annexation process which has been taking place in two Georgian regions”.

Saakashvili has vowed to restore central control over the two regions and Georgia has accused Moscow of creeping annexation of the breakaway territories which threw off Tbilisi’s control in fighting in the 1990s.

Putin also instructed his government to accept identification documents issued by the separatists, recognise businesses and organisations registered under Abkhaz and South Ossetian law, and look at providing consular services to residents in the two regions.

The statement made no mention of Russia recognising the two regions’ claims for independence from Georgia.

Putin says Iran is no threat

putin_ii.jpgRussian President Vladimir Putin challenged US policy toward Iran on
Friday and said that the Islamic republic should be helped to emerge
from isolation, instead of being threatened.

“No one can seriously think that Iran would dare attack the United States,
” a source in the Russian delegation at the NATO-Russia summit in
Bucharest quoted Putin as telling leaders.

“Instead of pushing Iran into a corner, it would be far more sensible to think together how to help Iran become more predictable and transparent.”

Meanwhile, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in an interview published Friday that he would reject any new incentives in return for suspending uranium enrichment.

“This is a non-negotiable subject,” Ahmadinejad was quoted as telling Japan’s Kyodo News when asked about possible incentives carrying conditions that Iran suspend its enrichment activities.

Ron Paul: Leave Russia Alone

Before the US House of Representatives, April 1, 2008: Statement on H Con Res 154 Expressing concern over Russian involvement in Alexander Litvinenko’s murder

Mr. Speaker: I rise in strong opposition to this ill-conceived resolution. The US House of Representatives has no business speculating on guilt or innocence in a crime that may have been committed thousands of miles outside US territory. It is arrogant, to say the least, that we presume to pass judgment on crimes committed overseas about which we have seen no evidence.

The resolution purports to express concern over the apparent murder in London of a shadowy former Russian intelligence agent, Alexander Litvinenko, but let us not kid ourselves. The real purpose is to attack the Russian government by suggesting that Russia is involved in the murder. There is little evidence of this beyond the feverish accusations of interested parties. In fact, we may ultimately discover that Litvinenko’s death by radiation poisoning was the result of his involvement in an international nuclear smuggling operation, as some investigative reporters have claimed. The point is that we do not know. The House of Representatives has no business inserting itself in disputes about which we lack information and jurisdiction.
